NORTHWESTERN SCHOOL CORPORATION IMPLEMENTS FREE MEALS TO ALL AREA STUDENTS

&

PROVIDES FREE MEALS TO ALL ATHLETES AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Northwestern School Corporation is pleased to announce participation in the Summer Food Service Program.
While all kids look forward to the summer break, many families count on school breakfast and lunch, which can be
stressful and require family food budgets to be stretched even further.
Free summer meals are now available to all kids and teens ages 18 and younger whether you are a Northwestern
student or not. Curbside bulk meal pick-up is available each Tuesday and Thursday starting June 3 at
Northwestern High School, Door #3 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Each Tuesday, you will receive 4 days of meals and
each Thursday you will receive 3 days of meals; totaling 7 days of meals for both breakfast and lunch per student.
To participate in curbside pickup, please contact Ellen Sipes, Northwestern Food Service Director, at (765) 457-
8101 ext. 1020 or ellen.sipes@nwsc.k12.in.us.
Additionally, Northwestern is excited to extend a new initiative through the summer and into the following school
year. All summer school students and students participating in extra-curricular activities are eligible to receive a
free breakfast and lunch while at school during the summer months. During the school year, any student staying
after school can be provided a free meal. Superintendent Bilkey explained, “this past school year, we began
offering free meals to our athletes and other students in extra-curricular activities staying after school. This was a
great way to make sure our students are being taken care of after school hours.”
