Flying could become a lot more difficult in the coming months after it was announced that there is a major shortage of pilots. Thousands of pilots were fired last year due to the pandemic, and now that traveling again is on the rise, pilots are not coming back fast enough.
American Airlines had to cancel over 300 flights this past weekend alone, if numbers continued like this, 2000+ flights could be cancelled in the month of July.
It’s similar to the situation facing the trucking industry where it is hard to find new young truck drivers to replace the older ones who have decided to leave the industry.
