Halloween is here and that means kids and teens will be running around trying to find the best houses for candy.

While the most common item for kids to use to collect candy are pillow cases, and orange pumpkins. You may notice some with teal or dark blue pumpkins. These pumpkins have very specific meanings.

Teal pumpkins on display indicate that a house has non-food treats such as glow-sticks or eyeball bouncy balls for trick-or-treaters with food allergies.

But if a child has a teal pumpkin, it may mean THEY have a food allergy, peanuts is the most common, so having an option like skittles, or starburst could be smart.

Meanwhile, a dark blue pumpkin signify that the trick-or-treater has autism and may not communicate in the usual ways. Most of the time if a child is autistic or non verbal, there will be a parent with them. But this is something you’ll want to keep an eye out for as well.
