Erin’s Feel Good Blog: Let’s talk Pet Insurance PLUS this feline friend needs a home!

You insure your car, you insure your home, you even insure your life. So why would you not want to insure your best furry friend? Did you know that you can insure your Cat or Dog for as little as $9 a month?! That’s less than you spend on 2 cups of coffee! Pet insurance is available right here in Kokomo! I sat down with Agent LeAnn Devine of Shelter Insurance to get more information on this! Here’s how our conversation went!

Me: We all insure our cars and homes, but a lot of us haven’t heard of pet insurance! Can you tell us a little bit about what it covers?
LeAnn: Yes! Pet insurance is an awesome thing that our company offers! We’ve teamed up with Pets Best, who provides medical care for unexpected accidents or illnesses. Coverage includes visits and treatment for minor medical issues or emergency care.
Me: What kind of specific incidences does this plan cover?
LeAnn: It covers accidents, illnesses such as allergies & diabetes, surgeries, hereditary & congenital conditions, prescription medications, cancer treatments, and even physical rehabilitation!
Me: Being a pet owner myself, I know how expensive the vet bills can be!
LeAnn: Yes they can! And this plan can save you up to 90% on vet bills. It’s also very flexible to meet your needs. There are 3 different plan options that you can choose from.
Me: How much would something like this cost?
LeAnn: Depending on the plan you choose you can get your cats covered for as low as $6 a month and your dog for as little as $9!
Me: That really is a great deal when you think about the amount of money you spend at the vet. I spend more than that on coffee each month! How can people get a hold of you if they would like to talk more about getting their pet insured?
LeAnn: Give me a call anytime at (765) 453-1455 or stop by the office! We’re located at 3827 S Lafountain St, Kokomo, IN 46902.
If you or someone you know could benefit from Pet insurance, please give LeAnn a call!
Letter from the Director

Barktober Fest was a great success! It looked like everyone who attended had a lot of fun between the dog walk, vendors and contests. Attendance was a down a little which we think was due to so many other events taking place and also the fear of rain. We lucked out though and had beautiful weather.  If you didn’t get to come and would like to purchase our signature Barktober Fest bag they are available for a donation of $30. You can purchase them in the Cat Café.

We will be closed this Saturday as we are taking many of our animals to the Mega Adoption Event in Indianapolis. This is a great venue to see hundreds of animals in one location. The event is Saturday the 13th  and Sunday the 14th.

Our adoptable pet for this week is Ariel. She is a five year old Calico. She is a big and beautiful green eyed super friendly lady.  She was surrendered to us when her owners moved and couldn’t take her along.  Ariel has been enjoying her  time at the shelter in our front reception area as a free roaming office cat.  If you are interested in meeting her please ask when you come in.
