Jill began her radio career at WZWZ, at a time when women hadn’t yet become DJ’s. The chance offer occurred during the years when the movie “FM” sold more Soundtracks than Theatre Tickets. She ran towards this chance of a lifetime. One very special Lady assisted her along the way – Ms. Pat DiSalvo [K.P. Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, among a vast array of accolades & honors].
The saying: “Right place, right time” rings true for this ‘story’. Jill was literally ‘discovered’ by WZWZ’s GM – Bill Williamson, while working her after-school job at the Golden Dolphin Bath Shop [in what was] the Colonial Plaza. More good fortune was in play – her ‘references’ came from both Patricia & *Robert Williams (*Bob was Jill’s Drama Club, Creative Writing & English Teacher at Haworth HS). Her co-workers encouraged her to ‘aim high’, as she continued her studies at IU-K, after graduating from HHS in 1977.
She’s come full circle, literally – having enjoyed successful radio & TV careers in Indy – Dallas/Fort Worth & our Nation’s Capitol. Jill also found time to stay involved with open wheel racing/Racing Ministries, along with TV ‘hosting’/co-hosting varied subjects – from ‘Concert’ Specials to ‘Faith & Law’.
You can hear Jill on Z92.5, whenever the need arises – she’s our ‘Go to Girl’.
Among her awards: 2 Marconi’s (Large Market Radio/Indy), Radio Hall of Fame/Nomination -1987. In 1992, G. Gordon Liddy – only slightly, edged her out for ‘Best New Talent’/Air Awards in Baltimore/Washington. Hopefully, there’s still time to make more…
