The Office VS Parks and Recreation

The great debate; Which is better, ‘The Office’ or ‘Parks and Recreation’?

It can be argued that ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’ are two of the best sitcoms to be released in the past 15 years. But which one is better?

‘The Office’, adapted from the original UK Version, was first released in 2005 and aired for nine seasons following the life of everyone at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The perfect cringeworthy, dry sense of humor makes it nearly impossible not to like. The show has topped the list multiple times for being the most streamed show, proving it’s well liked. Even though it has been eight years since the series finale, a renewed sense of popularity has surfaced bringing with it multiple podcasts hosted by actors from the show. If you haven’t listened to “An Oral History of The Office” with Brian Baumgartner, you’re missing out. Currently ‘The Office’ is streaming on Peacock.

If ‘The Office’ isn’t quite what you’re after for a good binge worthy show, the next logical step is watching ‘Parks and Recreation’! Four years after ‘The Office’ first aired, the Parks and Recreation department of Pawnee, Indiana was introduced. For seven seasons you follow along the life and times of Leslie Knope, and friends, in a small town government department. Compared to ‘The Office’, ‘Parks and Recreation’ is faster paced, quick witted and slightly more consistent. Like ‘The Office’, ‘Parks and Recreation’ is currently streaming on Peacock.

But which show is better?

Can that decision really be made? If you list out pros and cons of each show they really come out pretty close to equal. Instead of  first and second choice, it’s more of a 1A and 1B situation.  Overall it really boils down to personal preference, but before you make your final decision, just think twice about what Ron Swanson would tell you.

And yes, it’s perfectly acceptable to go rewatch both of the shows again!
