EMERGENCY HOMELESSNESS RESOURCE FAIRS

The City of Kokomo, in collaboration with a number of local non-profit service providers and concerned citizens, is encouraging the homeless population of Kokomo to utilize the shelters available for temporary residency. There are vacancies open to everyone that needs a place. While we understand that some may be comfortable camping in locations throughout the city, we wish to inform that this is a violation of city ordinances. These ordinances are put in place for the safety and protection of everyone in the community. There is also an obvious sanitation issue with the disposal of human waste that is a concern for area neighbors, a danger to our wildlife and a pollutant to our waterways.

With that in mind, below you will find information on an emergency Resource Fair organized by this group for those in need. We respectfully ask the community’s support in sharing this information regarding our local non-profit service groups. These organizations have participated in these efforts and are all welcoming this population to help with shelter, physical health, mental health, addiction counseling, rehabilitation services, education, identification assistance, food and clothing assistance, and other basic needs. The group is offering a Community Resource Fair that are open to everyone who needs it–free of charge. The first Resource Fair is tomorrow, Feb. 5th, with a number of additional offerings next week, Feb. 8th thru the 12th. Each Resource Fair will be held at the Family Services Association facility located at 618 S. Main Street and will be from 1:00pm-3:00pm every day.
