Mother’s Day Recap

Hey everybody!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend! A bit of a celebration this weekend as it was Mother’s Day! I made sure to make time to go home to see my Mom. I haven’t shared much about her journey as of recent, so to update you all- she’s in her second bout of fighting Cancer. Her current chemo treatment makes her very tired and weak, which makes it difficult to get out and do fun things. I wanted to make it as easy as I could on her by coming to her. I left Friday evening and drove home to Chicago.

Although the distance feels far sometimes, it’s really not that bad. I am usually able to jump on 65 and make it home in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. Friday was pretty much shot as working all day and then driving home made me tired. But the entire rest of the weekend Mom and I were able to hang out. I miss living close to my parents. Real talk! Sometimes its nice to be able to just to mundane things with them, which is kind of what we did! I had to get an oil change, and take my dog to the vet so Mom joined me and helped me out. We just hung out watching TV the rest of Saturday and then grabbed some ice cream!

On Sunday, my entire family minus one sister (she lives in Colorado) went out to lunch at this DELICIOUS place called Houlihans. Legit the best food and drinks! Always have a great time when we go there! We made sure Mom had lots to eat and left feeling full and loved.

I’m making a resolution. Yes, I know it’s May 13th. But we can always resolve to do good things for ourselves right?! My new resolution is to spend more time with both my parents. Time with my parents is never wasted time, ever!

All in all it was a great weekend of relaxation and eating and quality with Mom. Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom and all of you Mom’s out there!
