Cutting the Cable! Antennas on the Rise

With Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and many other online streaming services creating their own original content it’s time we all start asking ourselves “why do we still have cable?”

Cable costs hundreds of dollars every month and if the only channels you watch are Fox, NBC, ABC, CW or other basic channels, it might be time to look at other options. TV antennas are making a comeback because they are a one time cost and can still provide us with a reliable signal for some of our favorite shows. You can still have your weather, your news and some of your favorite shows without the cost.

You might be saying to yourself, “but what if I don’t have time to watch my favorite show now? What if I can’t make the time to watch the show live?”

What you may not know is that many basic channels have their own website for you to be able to stream your show at a time that’s convenient to you. CW for example has a great website that is easy to navigate and even has an app that you can download to your phone, tablet, roku or apple tv to be able to stream your shows to whatever device you like. If your show doesn’t have it’s own network streaming site, it might be a good idea for you to check out Hulu, where you can view shows as early as 24 hours after they air.

I’m not saying that you should cut out your cable if you enjoy it and you get use out of it. There are still a lot of things that cable does well, including sports packages, movie stations and other shows on demand. If you utilize these services, by all means continue to do so. This post is mainly to inform people that there are other (cheaper) options available in the world today. If you’re struggling to make ends meet, do your research to see what other options are available so you can continue to enjoy your favorite forms of entertainment at a price you can afford.
