H1N1 Flu Shots Available this Sunday on Indiana University Kokomo campus
Kokomo, Ind. – The Howard County Health Department, along with assistance from the Indiana University Kokomo School of Nursing faculty and students, will conduct its third round of H1N1 vaccinations on campus this weekend.
Eligible age groups include children ages 6 months through 24 years, pregnant women, caregivers of children under 6 months, and people between the age of 25 and 64 with chronic medical conditions including asthma, neuro-developmental conditions, chronic lung disease, liver and kidney disorders, weakened immune systems, blood disorders, heart disease and endocrine disorders, like diabetes.
The health department expects to have doses of the H1N1 vaccine available in nasal and injectable forms for Sunday’s clinic, according to Karen, Lopke, H1N1 administrator.
IU Kokomo nursing faculty and students will assist with preparing and giving injections, data entry, client flow through the clinic areas, and general organization of the clinic. Volunteers from the IU Kokomo Early Childhood Education program will hand out coloring books to children.
The third clinic will take place on Sunday, December 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. in Havens Auditorium.
